We are delighted that Ethos and New Forest District Council have been shortlisted for a 2026 British Parking Award in the Communication Award category for our work on the Council’s Parking Strategy.

Our entry, “Giving every community a voice”, recognises the extensive programme of communication and engagement undertaken to ensure that local communities were placed at the heart of the strategy’s development.

Developing parking policy within an area as diverse as the New Forest requires careful consideration of competing needs. Residents, businesses, visitors, elected members and other stakeholders can have very different experiences of and priorities for parking. Our approach therefore placed considerable emphasis on creating meaningful opportunities for people to participate and ensuring that the evidence gathered genuinely influenced the emerging strategy.

The British Parking Awards celebrate best practice, innovation and achievement across the UK parking sector, making the recognition particularly significant for both the Ethos team and our colleagues at New Forest District Council.

Being shortlisted reflects something fundamental to the way we work at Ethos: effective transport and parking strategies should not simply be developed for communities, but with them.

We look forward to the British Parking Awards ceremony in London on 18 September.
